Aubrey Carlton Swartz

Aubrey Carlton Swartz, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016, at the Fox Chase Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was born in Winchester, Virginia, on March 3, 1926, one of thirteen children of the late Walter Scott Swartz and Ida Mae Grubbs.

Aubrey is survived by his wife of 71 years, Pauline Caldwell Swartz; children, Mildred Marie Banks (and her husband) of Maryland, Nancy Ann Ruffin of North Carolina, Robert James, Daniel Eugene (and his wife) and Timmy Lee of Maryland. He is also survived by five grandchildren (Lisa, Richard, Lori, David, and Jonathan) and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Lee, his granddaughter Suzanna Swartz, his grandson Daniel Eugene Swartz, Jr., and twelve siblings—six brothers, five sisters and one half-brother.

Aubrey, a retired building maintenance specialist, was an ardent and dedicated fan of the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles. He was a member of Maryland City Baptist Church. He enjoyed designing and skillfully weaving replacement chair seats from cane.
