Augusto “Gus” Cunanan

Augusto Cunanan, age 71, passed away on May 16, 2023.

Born August 2, 1951 in Tinabang, Magalang, Pampanga, Philippines, son of the late Juan Cunanan and Consolacion Sanchez. He is the beloved husband of Erlina Cunanan. Gus is survived by his wife Erlina, his siblings Ener, Tover, May, Claro, Jojo, Johnny, Mai, and Tess, his stepmother Florencia, his in-laws, his 15 nephews and 7 nieces, and his favorite dog Romeo. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jesse, Nestor, and Julio.

In his younger years, Gus enjoyed gathering, eating, and sharing beers with his family and friends every weekend. He immigrated to America in 1984 and resided in Laurel, Maryland. Gus and Erlina got married in 1997 after a long courtship. They shared 26 wonderful years of marriage together. Gus is a hard worker who retired from Eastland Food Corporation after over 20 years.

He valued quality time with his family, making sure to always check in through a phone call or by visiting his siblings, nieces, and nephews on a regular basis. He was a reliable, dependable, and generous man who always helped and supported those around him whenever they needed it. And in return, he delighted in being spoiled by those who loved him most. He was the glue of the family, keeping everyone together and connected. He loved listening to the stories and jokes shared with him. Gus will be remembered for his lighthearted nature, always making those around him smile and laugh.
