Ben Charles Monroe, Sr.

Ben Charles Monroe, 89, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025. He was born on September 20, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan.

Ben proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard before dedicating many years to the United States Postal Service. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and love for his family.

Ben had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He especially enjoyed bowling and traveling, hobbies that brought him joy and companionship throughout the years.

He is survived by his loving children: Ben Monroe, Jr.; Mark Monroe (Linda); Kevin Monroe (Moudestine); Tracy Monroe (Mary Jane); and Tamethea Willis (Kenneth). He is also survived by his dear sister, Rosie Scotland. His legacy lives on through his many grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Ben was preceded in death by his Parents, his beloved wife, Maedell Monroe, his siblings Alex Henderson, Mattie Henderson & James Musa Henderson and his daughter, Andrea Monroe.

A memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate his life.
