Bernard Nelson 'Bernie" Wines, Sr.

Bernard Nelson Wines Sr. passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023, at his home in Savage, Maryland.  Bernie was 85 years of age.  He was born on December 28, 1937, in Odenton, MD, son of the late Lida and Elias Wines.

In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by 17 of his 18 siblings. He was a loving partner to Janet Wines who also preceded him in death.  He is survived by his children: Patricia Ann (Sonny), Betty Jean (Ricky), Bernard Nelson Jr, Mary Catherine (Dulce), Shiela Roxanne (Kevin) and Keith (Giuliana). He was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bernie was a hard-working man.  He was extremely talented and handy.  He loved to partake in projects, especially with his son, Keith. The list was endless, and no project was too big. He enjoyed sharing special times with his lifelong friends: Ernie, Tom, and Greg.  He looked forward to breakfast with Frannie and Annie.  He was an avid Orioles fan and was looking forward to a repeat of 1983. He loved old cars and was proud of his 38’ Plymouth.

His sense of humor brought laughter to many lives.  He would often catch you at just the right moment with his witty and comical remarks. His radiant smile brightened a room.  His kindness and selflessness extended far beyond his family.  He never hesitated to help a friend or a neighbor.

Bernie had a beautiful love for life and lived each day to the fullest. He impacted the lives of many individuals. Bernie will be missed, but he will never be forgotten. His memories will be in our hearts forever.
