Bertil R. Carlson

Bertil Raymond Carlson, 94 of Laurel, Maryland passed away on June 17, 2024.

He was born April 13, 1930 to John and Jennie Carlson in Erie, Pennsylvania.  His parents were immigrants from Sweden.  Bert was very proud of his Swedish heritage and was a member of the VASA lodge where he enjoyed Scandinavian dancing.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 – 1954.  After completing his service, he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Carneige Tech.  After graduating he accepted a job with the US Navy where he worked for the next 35 years.  After retirement he enjoyed bowling, square dancing, line dancing and attending the Laurel Friendship Club.  He also took accounting classes at PG Community College which led to a certificate in Accounting.  He is survived by his wife Miriam, daughter Cynthia, her husband Larry and children John and Michelle, son Michael and his wife Megan and children Alexander and Analynn. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Elsie Carlson.

Visitation will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 7607 Old Sandy Spring Road Laurel, MD 20707 on July 1 at 9am followed by the funeral service at 10am.  Internment will be at George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
