BETTY J. ANTILLA, COLONEL, Ret., passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Washington, D.C. Betty was born in 1929 at Bismarck, N.D. to Arne and Ina Antilla and grew up in the Lawrence Lake area of Itasca County, MN.
A 1947 of Greenway High School and Hall of Fame retired as a Colonel from U.S. Army Nurse Corp after 26 years and was a RN for 44 years. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1951. She joined the Army in 1961. Betty was involved in the clinical and administrative assignments in the 95thEvacuation Hospital at Danang, Vietnam, 1970-1971. During the Army Nurse Career, her assignments included positions as staff nurse, administrative and managerial position at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and brothers, Clifford and Francis Eugene.
Betty is survived by her sister, Gloria (Harold) Snyder; and brother, Willard (Pat) Antilla of Salem, OR; uncle, Francis (Berdie) Antilla of Two Harbors, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be at the Arlington National Cemetery Nurses Hill Section.
