Betty Anne Frederick passed away on May 22, 2026 at her home. She was born on August 12, 1933.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, S.G. Fred Frederick. She is survived by her four children: Cynthia Frederick; F. Craig Frederick (Helen); Christopher Frederick (Karen); and Jeff Frederick (Janell). Her grandchildren are F. Craig Frederick Jr. (Kelsey), Allison Clevenger (RJ), Samantha Frederick, Hunter Frederick, Brooke Frederick, Jenna Frederick, Jackson Frederick, Jayci Frederick, and Jillian Frederick. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Harlan, McKinley, Rhett, and Levi.

Born and raised in Parsonsburg, Maryland, to John W. and Agnes M. Jackson, Betty Anne attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. It was there, on a blind date, that she met the man she would marry six months later, S.G. Fred Frederick. They made their home in Laurel, Maryland, where they resided for the next 69 years. Fred opened an auto dealership with Betty Anne’s support, and together they raised four children who continue to run the family businesses. Betty Anne and Fred loved Laurel for its old town charm and the great people who became lifelong friends.

For all that knew her, Betty Anne was always known as the “better half.” Although her husband was widely known in the community as an active civic leader, it was Betty Anne’s support that made everything possible. She was the true foundation of the family—committed to raising her children and setting an example of a devoted mother and wife. She was a model of grace and kindness.

Betty Anne was an avid gardener and tennis player. She volunteered countless hours at the local elementary and junior high schools. She and Fred shared a lifelong passion for the University of Maryland, supporting and attending athletic and other events with friends and family for more than five decades. Together they cultivated innumerable friendships through celebrations and joyful traditions and were gifted at bringing people together.

If you ever had the benefit of meeting Betty Anne, you would know what an exceptional lady she was: polite, appropriate, kind, selfless, modest, and caring. She was a thoughtful wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. Her kindness and charity will endure through the legacy established by the Frederick Family Foundation. She will be deeply missed, but the memories and example she leaves will remain forever.
