Betty Elaine Griffin, age: eighty-eight of Burtonsville, MD passed away June 21, 2024
Betty was a member of the St. Paul’s Seniors in Fulton, MD where she participated in Sunday school, Luther League as a teenager and was confirmed. Betty was also the Corresponding Secretary for Belles & Beaux at Liberty Grove Methodist Church in Burtonsville as well as a Methodist Youth Fellowship member as a teenager. In addition, she was a former member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Burtonsville, MD where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

She worked as a typist for Naval Ordinance Lab in White Oak, Maryland until 1961, mother of four children, and returned to the workforce to retire from Montgomery County Public Schools as a teaching assistant.
Loved to write cards, letters and poems for the family and sending cards to family, extended family and friends. Enjoyed reading to the children and grandchildren. Loved to cook meals for family and friends, especially setting the table in the dining room of her childhood home. As a child her favorite pass time was going fishing with her dad (Edward Miles) and picnics with mom and dad (Ed & Ethel Miles). Loved playing miniature golf with husband Gerry Griffin when dating (married 65 years, 10 months.). Enjoyed family vacations with Gerry and her four children including going to old car shows with Kerry, Perry, and Gerry. Never traveled farther North than Canada (honeymoon with Gerry) or further South than Florida (Disney World), or further West than Ohio (Football Hall of Fame) or further East than New Jersey (Cape May). Was born in Burtonsville and loved it so much, she stayed a lifetime.
She is survived by husband Gerald Griffin, oldest son Kerry Griffin, middle son Perry Griffin, Kerstin Allen-Elledge, youngest son Terry and Dawn Griffin, oldest grandson Daniel Griffin, youngest grandson Paul and Madeline Griffin, great grandchild Marcus Griffin, daughter Merry Griffin, and granddaughter Stephanie and Cayman Frederick.
She is survived by brother Carl Miles and is preceded in death by father Edward Miles, and mother Ethel Miles (Bassler).
