Betty H. Tennis

Betty Horton Tennis, 90, passed away on September 10, 2023.  She was born August 9, 1933 to Echol and Sarah Horton.

She attended Rye Cove High School and worked at Washington Adventist Hospital for 35 years as a supervisor at the front desk.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church in Laurel and volunteered for the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.  Betty had a great sense of humor, she loved to laugh, have a good time, and spend quality time with family.  She loved to play bingo, shop, and go out to eat.

Betty is survived by her children, Petchy Denison (Robert) and Cathy Muela (Fred), grandchildren, Terry Thomas and Julie Slater, great grandchildren, Alexis Slater, Jason Slater, Neveah Thomas, Shelby Thomas, Kelsey Thomas, and siblings, Ray Horton and Faye Blanche.

She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, George Tennis, Jr., her mother and father, Echol and Sarah Horton, sisters, Wanda Horton and Charlotte Reed, and brother, Ralph Horton.

Betty will always be remembered as someone who loved her husband and family, was a great caregiver, and as someone who always helped her family with great advice.
