Beverly Fairall Maxwell, 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at her residence in Laurel, Maryland. Mrs. Maxwell had lived at her home in Laurel for 45 years and was a life-long Laurel resident. She was born on November 21, 1931, and was the only child of the late Serena (Singer) Fairall and James Fairall. Mrs. Maxwell graduated from Laurel High School in 1948 as class valedictorian. She was married to Frederick Brooks Maxwell, Sr., also of Laurel, Maryland, in 1952.
Mrs. Maxwell worked from 1948 to 1961 as an executive secretary to high-ranking officials at the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency. Mrs. Maxwell later worked as a medical assistant in doctor's offices in Laurel, most recently the office of ophthalmologist Bernard Ehrlich, M.D., prior to her retirement. She was actively involved in the Laurel community, kept up with her high-school classmates, and in recent years assisted alumni from another class in organizing their reunion.
Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Brooks Maxwell, Sr. She is survived by her son Frederick Brooks Maxwell, Jr., of Alexandria, Virginia, her daughter Holly Maxwell Ochall of Laurel, Maryland, her grandson Jason Wachterman of Sykesville, Maryland, and her granddaughter Lauren Wachterman of Laurel, Maryland. She leaves behind many close friends and family members.
Funeral services were held at Donaldson Funeral Home on May 20, 2012. She was interred with the ashes of her late husband at the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Laurel, Maryland.
