Brandon Lenard Witter

Brandon Lenard Witter, was unexpectedly called home early Friday morning August 21st, 2020 in Crofton, Maryland at the age of 40. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, airman, and friend.

He was born on August 28th, 1979 to his parents, Gary and Geneva Witter, in Warner Robins, GA. Brandon was baptized and a member of the Christian Fellowship Church until he left home to join the military. His greatest passions were his family, the Air Force, followed closely by craft beer.

His father often called Brandon his “Little Pistol” because he was so full of energy. One of his favorite childhood pastimes was trying to outrun his mother in impromptu foot races throughout the streets of Germany. Brandon’s competitive drive remained constant throughout his life. Whether it was on the basketball courts, friendly debates, darts, or even board games he was always aiming to win.

Brandon was well-known for his “boujee” interests. He never settled for less than the best coffee, finest wine and craft beer—and was willing to explain why. Brandon was always the life of the party; from his unique dance moves, engaging stories, and his distinctive laugh. He always included everyone in his mirth by ensuring that everyone had a good time. Brandon was a proud Georgia native, and humbly displayed his Georgia license plate, University of Georgia, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves gear.

Brandon followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the United States Air Force at 21 to serve his country. His first duty assignment was the 319th Communications Squadron at Grand Forks AFB, ND. That is where Brandon met the love of his life, Melisa. After two years of dating, they got married, and in 2004 they were blessed with their twins, Jalen and Alana. In 2006, the Witter family moved to the National Capital Region. Brandon’s time as an Air Force recruiter was a highlight of his career because he was able to share his love of the Air Force and change recruits’ lives. Additionally, in the years that followed he made numerous contributions in “the agency” and across the intelligence community serving in a variety of roles within the Department of Defense. Brandon’s enthusiasm for life impacted countless men and women during his 20+ year career in the Air Force.

He is survived by his loving wife, Melisa; his adoring son and daughter, Jalen and Alana; his parents, Gary and Geneva Witter, Warner Robins, GA; his brother, Torrence Brown (Angie), Belleville, IL; his sister, Tiffany Parsons (Nathan), Stone Mountain, GA; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends on both sides of their families.

He was preceded in death by his first daughter, his paternal grandparents, Marion and Wilhelmina Witter, and maternal grandparents, Alvin and Louise Cainion.

Memorial donations can be made to his favorite charity the V Foundation for cancer studies.
