Carl W. Owens

On Saturday, November 26, 2011, Carl W. Owens, passed away at the University of Maryland Hospital. He was 85. Mr. Owens was a life-long resident of Laurel. After turning 16, he joined the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department and became a very active member of the department. Mr. Owens held every office, except for chief, on both the operation and administrative sides. After graduating from Laurel High School, Mr. Owens served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy during WW II.
Mr. Owens is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Olga Owens; daughter Fay Owens Schneider and son Michael Owens and his brother Joseph Owens. He is also survived by his grandchildren Robert, Michael and Gregory Snyder and Jennifer, Jessica and Brandon Owens.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. where services will be held on Wednesday at 10 am. A fire fighters service will be held on Tuesday at 8 pm. Interment will be in Emmanuel United Methodist Church cemetery.
