Carol Arends

Carol Arends of Laurel, MD passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD at the age of 69. Carol was born in Takoma Park, MD and graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD in 1961.

Carol was retired. She had worked for the U.S. Army Research Laboratory and also as an Administrative Officer at the Department of Justice in the Office of the Intelligence Director. Carol stayed close with many of her former co-workers.

Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend. Her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joys of her life. She also had many cousins, in-laws, and friends that she loved dearly. She referred to everyone as, "baby doll". Her calendar was always full with trips to visit family and friends, lunch and dinner get togethers, or taking a neighbor to a doctor's appointment. She enjoyed traveling by land, air and sea. She was always planning a trip. Her favorite place to be was at the beach...at Maryland's Eastern shore or at her time-share in Florida. She loved to dance, eat Maryland crabs, and enjoyed buying shoes! Carol was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and for several years served as a visiting teacher and ward missionary. She will be greatly missed.

Carol is survived by her son Michael E. Arends and his wife Leslie, of Gaithersburg, MD; daughter Trelana Frazee of Crownsville, MD; Grandchildren Jeffrey, Tylor, Chase, TJ, Tony, and Travis; and great-grandchildren Connor, Harley, Riley, and Tracy III. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Vincent J. Arends, Sr., and son Vincent J. Arends, Jr.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 7-9 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland 20707. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 beginning at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7200 Contee Rd Laurel, Maryland 20707. Interment will follow at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Maryland.
