The following obituary was written and submitted by the family of Cathy Desmond

Catherine “Cathy” Ann Desmond, 62, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away peacefully January 14, 2023, at the Gilchrist Hospice Center in Columbia, Maryland surrounded by family and friends.

Cathy was predeceased by her parents, John and Betty, and her grandmother, Bessie. She is survived by her two brothers, Tom and Greg, her husband, Carey, and her son, Carey (Jr.).

Cathy was born in California on August 21, 1960. She worked in the Community Lending Division at Riggs Bank in Riverdale, Maryland for 27 years and in the Real Estate Lending Division at Tower Federal Credit Union for roughly 12 years. On September 4, 1993, she married Carey, an automotive mechanic of Laurel, Maryland. On August 25, 1995, she welcomed her son, CJ, into the world.

Cathy was a devoted, caring and loving mother. She enjoyed cooking and cherished spending time with her family and friends. She loved visiting the beach and eating Maryland blue crabs. She spoiled every dog that she ever owned and would do anything for those closest to her.

A memorial gathering is scheduled from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on January 26 with a Celebration of Life beginning at 7:00 PM at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. in Laurel, Maryland.
