Charles D. "Charlie" White
died unexpectedly in Lewes, DE on Saturday, October 18th at the age of 66.

Charles is survived by his wife of 42 years, Stephanie Metelits White and loving son Christopher White. He also leaves behind a younger brother, Craig White. Other close family members include his sister- and brother-in-law Jennifer and George Dorr, and his niece and nephew Stacey Bollinger and Kevin Dorr.

Charlie was a third generation Laurelite. He attended Laurel Elementary, Laurel Junior High, and Laurel Senior High School. He went on to graduate from Towson University with a B.S. in History Education. During his tenure as teacher in Prince George's County, he also studied abroad in West Africa. His degree led to a successful teaching career that spanned 35 years and included, beyond teaching, academic and athletic coaching as well as school administration. During this time, he taught subjects as various as civics/core, history, and mathematics. Charles rounded out his career in special education before retiring. Schools where Charlie made an impact on students included: Beltsville Middle, Buck Lodge Middle, Bladensburg High, and Bowie High School.

A self-labeled bon vivant and raconteur, Charlie enjoyed playing basketsball, tennis, running, and golf - followed by more golf, followed by watching the Golf Channel. Both Charles and his wife Stephanie spent countless vacations in Rehoboth Beach, DE enjoying their retirement. A devoted family man, his wife and son remember his steadfast support, strength of character, and his kind and generous nature. Charles passed away shortly after playing golf at the beach where he was near his family, enjoying the things he loved best.
