Clara Virginia Allen

Clara Virginia Allen, 83, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away on July 4, 2024. Clara was born on April 16, 1941, to Maurice and Mary Gearhart. She graduated from Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska in 1959, and obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963. Clara dedicated 38 years of her professional life to the federal government, working at the Department of Social Security. She lived most of her adult life in Laurel, Maryland. Known for her passion for traveling and love for animals, Clara brought joy to those around her with her adventurous spirit and compassionate heart. She leaves behind many friends, extended family and her partner and best friend of 35 years, Steve Hill, along with their beloved dog, Gunny. A celebration of Clara’s life will be planned for September for family and close friends.
