Colleen Baughn Sailer Porterfield

Colleen Sailer Porterfield, 81, of Onley died Monday February 25, 2013 in Lynchburg after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born on July 16, 1931, in Lockfour Pennsylvania, Colleen was the beloved daughter of Sigmund and Nellie Sailer. She and her family moved to the Eastern Shore in 1966. Colleen was a dedicated parishioner of St. Peter's Catholic Church where she played the organ and directed the choir for almost fifty years as well as serving on various church committees. She was an Eastern Shore Madrigal for many years, served at the polls on election day and volunteered at the North Street Playhouse. Until December of 2012, Colleen was the office manager at the dental practice of Rawls Saecker, DDS in Accomac, VA.

Colleen was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her brother William Sailer. She is survived by her two daughters: Kathy Porterfield and her husband Norwood Eggeling and their children Jordan and Hannah of Seattle, WA and Mary Harman and her husband David of Lynchburg, VA. Colleen is also survived by her sister Judy Hunter and her husband Ray of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina and her sister-in-law Evelyn Porterfield of Baltimore, MD as well as many dear nieces, nephews and their families.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1st at Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, 114 St. Mary's Place, in Laurel, Maryland on Saturday March 2, 2013 at 11:00am. A celebration of Colleen's life will be held at a later date on the Eastern Shore.
