Curtis Lester Quillen passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at home in Berwyn Heights, Maryland.
Lester was born January 27, 1938, in Rose Hill, Virginia. He was the son of Robert Quillen and Bertha Rouse, deceased. He was also pre-deceased by his stepfather, Monroe Rouse, his sister Marjorie Quillen, and brothers Berle Quillen and Earl Quillen.
He attended Laurel High School and served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1965. He retired from Aggregate Industries in Laurel, MD in 2011. He loved the outdoors, fishing, sports, gardening, animals, the Baltimore Ravens, the Baltimore Orioles and Ocean City, MD. But most of all, he loved his wife and family.
Lester is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Rene Quillen; daughter Cheryl Barile and husband Philip and grandson Logan; sisters Georgia and Oscar (deceased) Saylor; sister Ernestine and Melvin (deceased) Myers; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Donaldson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with military honors, will be in Maryland National Memorial Park following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lester’s memory may also be made to the American Heart Association or your local Humane Society.
