Daniel "Dpd Iii" Dorney

Daniel Paul Dorney (DPD III), age 64, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 8, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 22, 1960 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late James and Janice Dorney.  He is survived by his loving wife Judy Walsh. Beloved brother of James (Barbara) of West Mifflin, PA, Tim of Munhall, PA, Mark (Peggy Burns) of Oconomowoc, WI, Michelle (the late Ron Turnwald), Melody (Eric) Ovitsky,  Maureen Dorney of Pittsburgh, PA and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Dan was a 1984 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He began his accounting career with National Capital Area Shared Services in Washington, DC.  He was a CPA who retired from Griffith Energy Services after 20 years of service as self-proclaimed “controller extraordinaire."

Dan thoroughly enjoyed  gardening  at the City of Laurel Community Garden (CLCG), travel to any destination that Judy chose, no matter how exotic and chatting with ANYONE within earshot of him.   During retirement, he renewed his passion for golf by joining the Monday, Wednesday, Friday Hustle league at Gunpowder Golf Club and quickly developed many new cherished friendships.

At a young age, his father taught him the meaning of devotion to family and he happily practiced that lesson throughout his entire life.

Dan will always be remembered for his charm, sense of humor, friendliness, laughter, unique story-telling ability and kindness and generosity.

He will be forever missed by his loved ones and all who knew him.

At Dan’s request, dress for his services are to be casual.  No suits or ties.  Dress as you would for visiting with a very close friend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's honor to Laurel Advocacy & Referral Services (LARS).
