Daniel Martin Jeffers

Daniel “Danny” Martin Jeffers, 87 years old, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born in Minooka, PA on December 4, 1938 to Cyril Daniel Jeffers and Mary Theresa (Horan) Jeffers. He graduated from South Catholic High School in 1956 and joined the United States Marine Corp. After his discharge, he returned to Minooka and married his high school sweetheart Barbara. In 1960, they relocated to the Washington, DC area when Danny joined the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department. After retiring from the police department in 1980, Danny worked in security at Laurel Park Race Track, served as a body guard to a high-ranking foreign official, and eventually retired, again, from the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center.

Danny was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years Barbara Ann (Snyder) Jeffers, son Michael Jeffers, and sister Maryanne Tate. Danny is survived by daughter Kimberley Rau-Sisto (Frank), sons Daniel Jeffers (Karen), Richard Jeffers (Bryan Ashby), and Robert Jeffers (Diane); grandchildren Ricky Rau, Jr. (Marie), Danielle Clardy (Courtney), Natalie Sisto, Nick Sisto, Jeffrey Hale (Marianne), James Hale (Angela), Jacqueline Sterner (Nathan), Jennifer Jeffers, Dylan Jeffers, Justin Jeffers, Jared Jeffers, Olivia Jeffers, Emma Jeffers, Sean Jeffers, Evan Jeffers, Kyle Jeffers, Kevin Jeffers; and siblings James Jeffers (Shirley) and Sister Janet Jeffers, IHM, both of Scranton, PA; John Jeffers (Janet) of Old Forge, PA, and Rosemary Macdonald (Donald) of Shreveport, LA. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Danny loved his family, friends, and living life to the fullest. Danny and Barbara were founding members of Resurrection of our Lord Catholic Church and active members of the Maryland City Civic Association. Danny was a member of the Laurel Moose Lodge #11, Laurel American Legion Post 60, Laurel Elks Lodge and

the Emerald Society of the Washington DC Area – a fraternal organization of Irish American first responders.

Danny and Barbara loved to travel, especially to Ireland. Danny was a proud Irishman. For twenty years, Danny and Barbara were Parade Marshals for the Emerald Society’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day parade – organizing the participating groups.

Funeral Arrangements: Visitation on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, 10:00 a.m. Resurrection of our Lord Catholic Church, 8402 Brock Bridge Road, Laurel, MD. Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, 10:45 am
