Darryl R. Duckworth

Darryl Robert Duckworth, age 76, of Laurel, MD passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Lorien Nursing Home of Elkridge in Elkridge, MD.

Darryl was born in Lansing, MI on February 23, 1941 to the late Ralph Duckworth and the late Beatrice (nee Barnes) Duckworth.  After graduating from high school Darryl  spent two years in the Army.  After being Honorably Discharged Darryl found himself in Maryland being employed with NSA.  Darryl’s employment history also includes employment with the U.S. Park Service as a maintenance engineer, as a bus driver with Safeway Trails and a truck driver with Safeway (grocery store).  Darryl was an active member of the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad (Co. 49) and supported the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department (Co.10).  Darryl enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of the HOG (Harley Owners Group) of Laurel and the Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club.  He was also very active with the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association.

Darryl is survived by his sister Joyce Gingrich; and a step-mother Janet Duckworth both of Lansing, MI.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday May 7, 2017 at the Donaldson Funeral Chapel, 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel MD 20707. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM at the Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Alma, Michigan at a later date.
