Daryl Richard Dillow

Surrounded by his loving family, Daryl Richard Dillow passed away peacefully on July 25th at the age of 77, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania,

Daryl was the only child of Magdeline Kertis and Charles Dillow, who predeceased him. He proudly served his country for over 25 years in the United States Navy. In 1969, he married Margaret Fitzgibbon, the love of his life. Together, they shared more than five decades of marriage, raising their family while his Navy career brought them to several countries and states before they eventually made Maryland their home. His sense of duty extended beyond his military service and into the way he cared for those he loved. 

Daryl was a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, particularly the Pirates and Steelers. Beyond sports, he enjoyed watching game shows, westerns, NCIS, and Hallmark movies. He was also an avid reader, with a fondness for novels by J.D. Robb and James Patterson. He will also be remembered for his unique sense of humor and dry wit, which brought laughter and smiles to his family and friends. Above all, Daryl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He treasured time with his family and will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, unwavering love for his family, and the humor that brought joy to those who knew him best. 

Daryl is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Dillow; his daughter, Caroline Gray (Michael Gray); his son, Charles Dillow (Katie Dillow); and his four cherished grandchildren: Alexandra Gray, Christian Gray, Maia Dillow and Sophia Dillow. His memory will be cherished always by those who loved him. 

Services are scheduled for Monday, August 10. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., both at St. Gregory of Nyssa Byzantine Catholic Church in Beltsville, Maryland. A Military Committal Service and Interment will take place at 1:45 p.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland. The family welcomes relatives and friends to join them for a reception at the parish hall at 3:00 p.m. following the interment.
