Denise Rogers Dorsey of Columbia, MD, was a loving and faithful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She passed away at the age of 45 years old, peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on July 3, 2025.
Denise was born on October 24, 1979 in Silver Spring, MD to Dennis Rogers and Carol Brizzi (Rogers), and raised in Beltsville, MD.
Denise was a beacon of light that lit up every room she entered. She was kind, and silly, and had the biggest heart. She loved spending time with family and friends, going on outings to concerts, festivals, and breweries, football, her dogs, and Pokemon Go. Her biggest passion in life was undoubetedly her daughter, Alyssa. Denise had a way of fitting in anywhere she went, somehow getting along with everyone she met. She enjoyed yearly vacations to the beach with all her family and creating cherished memories with her loved ones through get-togethers during the holidays.
Professionally Denise dedicated her career to working for the Federal Government at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. She spent 18 years at The National Insitutes of Nuerological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), before recently moving over to The Office of Research Services (ORS). She was such a champion for NIH and completely dedicated to their mission and staff. Her energy, authenticity, and commitment to helping people get things done were nothing short of extraordinary. Her loss will be felt tremendously throughout NIH.
Denise is survived by her husband, Gregory Dorsey, daughter, Alyssa Dorsey, her mother, Carol Brizzi, aunts Janie Sutton and Eileen Gentry (Jerry), her brothers Michael Rogers (Andrea), Ronald Rogers and Christopher Rogers, and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Dennis Rogers, Stepfather, Charles Brizzi and her grandparents, Charles and Marjorie Brown. Denise will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
