Diane Frances (Marton) Grant

Diane F. M. Grant, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Adventist Hospital in White Oak, Maryland.

Diane was born and raised in Laurel, Maryland on August 4, 1946 to Warren R. and Minnie (Brown) Marton, Sr.

Diane graduated from Laurel High School in 1964 and from Catonsville Community College in 1967. She worked at the National Security Agency until stepping away to start a family. For over twenty years, Diane proudly supported her daughters as a parent volunteer. Then in 1997, Diane started working at Fairland Aquatic Center (M-NCPPC) and worked there for 24 years.

In her earlier years, Diane was a member of the Masonic Job’s Daughters; and later in life, she joined the Laurel Historical Society. Diane also enjoyed dancing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her brother, Warren R. Marton, Jr. (Billie Jane); daughters: Deborah Karpowicz (Ken), Colleen Obenschain (Chris), and Natalie Grant; and four grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, Lilah and Jonathan.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707 on Monday, August 21st from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. A private family internment will immediately follow the service at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Diane’s honor be made to either the Laurel Historical Society , Chesapeake Bay Foundation or Breast Cancer Research Foundation .
