Diane Lucille Sills

Diane Lucille Sills, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023. She is survived by her son, Dan Sills, her daughter-in-law, Annie Sills, her daughter, Janice Sills Smith, and her grand children, Brooke Sills, Michael Smith, and Matthew Smith. She is also survived by her cousins Bill Gerhart, Blodwyn Weaver, Gary Gerhart, Glen Gerhart, Cindy Senn, and Debbie Gerhart-Kapolka.

Diane grew up in Bensalem, PA and attended Bensalem High School where she played six varsity sports. She attended Penn State for her undergraduate and masters degrees. Art and Diane Sills married in 1966 and settled in Laurel, Maryland. Diane served multiple volunteer roles in our community for many years. She was a health teacher at Montpelier Elementary School. She coordinated the Montpelier Spring Festival on the Montpelier Mansion Grounds for 50 years. She organized summer concerts, fall craft fairs, and community classes serving as President of the South Laurel Recreation Council. She received awards from the Governor, the Senate, and the House of Delegates for her service.

A celebration of life will be held on October 14th at 4 PM at the Laurel Presbyterian Church for both Art and Diane. A reception will follow.
