Diane Carroll Vance passed away on June 2, 2021. Born in Washington, DC on July 29, 1953, Diane was the daughter of Lewis “Gil” Vance and Nancy Vance. Diane was a loyal, kind and compassionate friend to all. She had a passion for poetry, education, karaoke and had a talent for bringing groups of people together that may never have met otherwise. During her life, Diane lived in Hyattsville, Syracuse, New Orleans, Rehoboth Beach and Laurel. Diane loved her family, chosen and blood, with a fierce love that was limitless and unconditional. She is preceded in death by her father, Gil, and nephew, James “Jimbo.” She is survived by her mother, Nancy, her sister, Catherine (Wes), her brothers, Douglas and James, her family, Nancy and Drena, her son, Jason (Alicia), and her granddaughter, Sophia. She loved and was loved by her nieces and nephews; Matthew, Nicholas, Christopher, Brandon, Collin (Jennifer), Evan (Kia), Lauren and Allison (Donnell); her great nieces and nephews Peyton, Cameron, Savannah, Evangeline, Brady, Alivia, Caitlin, Gabriel, Dylan, Porter, Josephine, Elijah, Kaila, Isabel, Emery and Mackenzie. A celebration of Diane’s life will be held on Monday, June 14th at 3:00pm at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Laurel, MD, a reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers you can honor Diane’s life by planting a tree or garden or make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
