Dina Michelle Vaughn Johnson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dina Michelle Vaughn Johnson, who departed this life on December 10, 2025, at the age of 59.

Dina was born on September 21, 1966, at Columbia Hospital for Women to the late Cephas R. Vaughn and Thomasine L. Vaughn. She was raised with strong values of family, education, and perseverance that guided her throughout her life.

A proud graduate of High Point High School in Beltsville, Maryland, Class of 1984, Dina continued her academic journey at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990. Shortly after, she began her professional career as an Administrative Assistant at the National Institutes of Health, where she worked from 1990 to 2001 with dedication and excellence. She later served her community as a substitute teacher for Prince George’s County Public Schools and devoted herself as a loving caregiver to her mother in her later years.

Dina found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid sports fan who especially loved football and proudly rooted for all DMV teams, with a special place in her heart for the Washington Redskins. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, particularly her beloved grandson, Kannon. She treasured taking him on outings to the beach, educational adventures, and their favorite trips to IHOP, creating memories that will be forever held close.

Dina leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Thomasine L. Vaughn; her devoted husband, Erick Q. Johnson; her daughter, Brianna T. Johnson; her son, Branden T. Johnson; her cherished grandson, Kannon T. Johnson; her niece, Shakalia Talley (Marqia); and her grandnephew, Braylon Talley.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cephas R. Vaughn; her sister, Stacey M. Vaughn-Talley; and her brother, Rodney S. Vaughn.

Dina will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service has not yet been arranged. Details will be shared at a later date.
