Donald DeWaine Morris, age 82, of Laurel, MD, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at his home.
Donald was born August 10, 1931 in Hundred, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Walter J. Morris and Thelma V. (nee Belch) Morris.
Donald attended school while growing up in West Virginia, eventually earning his degree from University of West Virginia in Morgantown in 1958. Donald served in the United States Air Force for four years, working in aircraft maintenance before settling into his career with Giant Food. Donald worked for Giant Food for 36 years, first as a meat cutter then later in accounts receivable. Donald was a proud member of the Church of Christ where he served as a teacher, food pantry worker and Elder.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years; Avis Dale Ott Morris, and his six children; Jeffrey Lemoyne Morris (and his wife Rebecca Sue Rhymer Morris), Mica Diane Morris Harding (and her husband William Lawrence Harding), Donald DeWaine Morris, II, Charles Walter Morris (and his wife Sherrie Ann Weigman Morris), James Ernest Morris and Inger Ethelma Morris Michael. Donald is survived by his brother Charles James Morris (and his wife Kathryn) and was preceded in death by his brother Garald Walter Morris, but survived by his sister in law Lyall Jobes Morris. Donald has 12 grandchildren; Christina Lee (and her husband Jay), Jeffrey Michael Morris (and his wife Gloria Darllington), Angela Harding, Melissa Harding, Melinda Harding, Amanda Harding, William Lawrence, Jr., Grace Morris, Jessica Morris, Timothy Joseph (T.J.) Michael (and his wife Laura May Fossi Michael), Ashley Michael and David Michael. He also has 7 great grandchildren; Donald Edward Lee, Brandon Lee, the late Brittany Lee, Brianna Lee, Destiny Harding, Isadora Morris and Bradley Grote.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the DONALDSON FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland, and again Friday, November 8, 2013 from 10 AM until the service begins at 11 AM at the Church of Christ, 7111 Cherry Ln, Laurel, MD 20707. Interment will follow at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
