Doris Beverly (Catlin) Knutson

Doris Beverly (Catlin) Knutson, age 96, of New Orleans, LA passed away on February 6, 2022 in Fulton, MD. She was born on August 21, 1925 in Westerly, RI to the late Ralph and Helen (Main) Catlin. She was the first female baby born in the Westerly Hospital.

She was married for 51 years to the late Capt. Albert Eugene Knutson, USN, Retired.

She was a member of the Navy Wives Club and Woodland Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, LA.

Doris traveled extensively with her husband during his career with the Navy. Their favorite tours of duty were: Alameda, CA, Hawaii, Naples, Italy and New Orleans, LA [where they retired].

As a hobby, she enjoyed shopping and was an AVID book reader.

She is survived by her two daughters: Betsy (George) Hoidra and Debra (Brad) Wood; four grandchildren: Cynthia (Jason) Mullikin, Brandon (Alisha) Wood and Mariah (Joseph) Wood and Steven (Sharareh) Hoidra; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Catlin, Jr.

She will be interred on April 15, 2022 at Barrancas National Cemetery.
