Beloved Doris May Gaddi, 96, of Silver Spring, Md., peacefully passed away on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024. She was born on April 9, 1928 in Washington, D.C. and lived the majority of her adult life in Montgomery County, Md.
Doris served many years as a typist for the government within the Immigration industry and various other part-time jobs over the years. She was a long-time and cherished member of St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Beltsville, Md., where she worked for its Extended Care Program and made many lasting friendships and relationships.
With her nurturing spirit, Doris devoted herself to her ailing parents, selflessly providing for their needs until their passing. Her legacy of love and devotion continued to inspire her granddaughter, Courtney, as she grew into the remarkable woman she is today. Doris' compassion, generosity and unwavering support left an indelible mark on countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration.
She is survived by her son, Steven Gaddi of Silver Spring, Md.; granddaughter, Courtney (Jordan) Megaughey of Odenton, Md.; and her great-grandchildren, Parker and Peyton May Megaughey of Odenton, Md.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Edith Meade, and her son, Joseph Gaddi.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, from 10-11 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.—all held at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. (313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707). Interment will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery around 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doris’ honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
