Doris M. Ritter

Doris Marian (nee Scaggs) Ritter, age 84, of the Scaggsville area of Laurel, MD, died Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Gilchrist Hospice Care - Howard County in Columbia, MD.

Doris was born on October 21, 1930 to the late Melvin Scaggs and the late Myrtle (nee Connell) Scaggs. She spent her entire life in the Scaggsville area. Doris was a very active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church and continued her family's tradition of caring after the church cemetery. Doris was also very active in the Howard County 4H.

Doris was the loving wife for 64 years of James F. Ritter, the beloved mother of Diane Moore (and her husband John) and Keith Ritter (and his wife Loretta). Doris was the cherished sister of Mary Kane, Elwood Scaggs and David Scaggs. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Frances Leighton.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD. Funeral service will be at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 10755 Scaggsville Road, Laurel, MD 20723 at 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2014. Interment will be at Emmanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
