Earl Skidmore, Sr.

Earl A. Skidmore, Sr. of Laurel, Maryland passed away on February 05, 2025. He was 80 years old. Born on July 05, 1944, to Harry and Lessie (Frye) Skidmore in Raleigh County, West Virginia. He was a 1963 graduate of Logan High School, where after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Earl faithfully served his country from 1963 -1966, and shortly after relocated to Maryland where he worked at Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco) for 53 years, until his retirement in 2020.  Earl was also a member of American Legion Post 60.

Earl had an unforgettable sense of humor.  He was known for sharing his funny jokes, and he will be remembered as someone who always left you smiling and laughing.

He was always proud, loving, and protective of his children, grandchild, and family.  He was never afraid to tell you he loved you and give you a big hug.

Additionally, he loved to challenge the entire family to a game of Jeopardy in the evening and would easily remind you that he was the smartest one in the room. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the beach and gardening. He was also an avid reader, and a classic country music fan, especially Johnny Cash, George Jones, and Waylon Jennings. He also loved watching western movies and television shows.

He is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Lessie Skidmore; Brothers Charles Skidmore and Glenn Skidmore; and his Wife of 15 years Elaine Skidmore. Earl is survived by his children, Lisa Skidmore (Richard Freigang); Earl Skidmore, Jr. (Brandie); and Michael Skidmore (Wrenn); his beloved grandson, Townsend Skidmore; Brothers Freddy Skidmore and Larry Skidmore, and sister Norma Skidmore Phelps.

Family and friends may visit at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland on Tuesday, February 25 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, with a memorial service beginning at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to American Legion Post 60 in honor of Earl.
