Edward Allen Burns, age 61, died on February 14th, 2023 in Laurel, MD.
Ed (or Bubba to his family) was born in Sellers, South Carolina to Clyde and Ernestine (Ford) Burns. He lived there until leaving to attend Clemson University. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1980 and retired in 2000. He served tours of duty in England, Germany, Greece, Hawaii and Ft. Meade, Maryland. He lived in Laurel, Maryland from 1996 until his death. After retiring from the US Air Force, he worked as a government contractor for several different companies before landing and staying with Northrup Grumman.
Ed met his wife at Ft. Meade in 1985. He always claimed that at their first meeting he knew she was the one because she had a mind of her own. They had just a few short months together before the military separated them. In 1991, Ed was in Germany and Teri was in Crete, Greece. Ed heard through the grapevine that Teri was still in Greece when the military closed his base in Germany. He had three choices of where he could go next. He chose Greece. They were married in a Greek civil ceremony on April 17th, 1992.
Ed made friends wherever he went. He always wore a big smile and laughed his big belly laugh easily and often. He had a kind heart and loved to talk to people from all walks of life about any topic, even ones he disagreed with personally. He loved his family, friends and coworkers and never completely lost touch with anyone. He enjoyed singing, playing just about anything competitive and talking smack about sports with whoever was around.
Ed is survived by his wife of 30 years, Teri Tallent Burns, mother Ernestine Ford Burns, his brother Charles (Tina) Burns, sister Maggie Lou Durant and niece Candra (Durant) Small, his uncle George Ford, aunt Florene (Ford) Williams along with a host of cousins and other extended family. Ed was preceded in death by his father Clyde Burns.
