Edward J. Devine

Edward Devine, 87, of Laurel, MD passed away peacefully on January 15, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Isabelle Devine, and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jennie Devine; his daughters DeeDee Devine and Becky Devine-McCawley; his grandaughters Sarah and Kristin McCawley; his sisters Isabelle Austin and Margaret Freeman; his brother Jim Devine; his sons-in-law Paul Costanza and Harry McCawley.  Edward Devine had a very distinguished career including civilian Navy service and NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center where he made major contributions as an aerospace engineer.  His colleagues have described him as a national treasure.  Edward was a loyal Redskins fan and loved to golf.  He will be missed by his loving family, colleagues and friends. Visitation and a service will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in the chapel at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD from 6-9pm with a Memorial Service at 7pm.  Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Westernport, MD on January 24 at 1pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Roeder Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910 or online at https://donate.cancer.org/index .
