Edward Joseph Mayhew, Sr.

Edward Joseph Mayhew, Sr., of Laurel passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2015. He was 85. Edward was born on February 19, 1930 in Washington, D.C. to the late Arthur and Margaret Mayhew. He was a 5th generation Washingtonian. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 30 years as a contracting officer for the federal government. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and the Laurel Senior Friendship Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife Lucille Russo. He is survived by his children Kathleen Thornhill of Bowie, Edward J. Mayhew, Jr. of Tennessee, Robert Mayhew of New Jersey, and Valerie Rankin of Bowie; grandfather of Wendy, Jessica, Jacob, Hannah, Samantha, Tabitha, Leo, Tessa, Maxwell, Zachary, and Emily; and great-grandfather of Piper and Adelaide.
