Edward Duncan Middleton Iii

Edward “Ned” Duncan Middleton, III, age 69, passed away at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC on July 10, 2023.

Born May 30, 1954, son of the late Christine Fell Gebhard, he was a life-long resident of Washington, DC. In his earlier years, before his mother passed, Edward was an avid fan of jigsaw puzzles, playing basketball with his brother, listening to music, watching movies, and taking family trips to parks and beaches.  He also loved spending summers at Camp Shenandoah where he enjoyed swimming, canoeing, gymnastics and horseback riding. He continued to enjoy many of the same activities including puzzles, movies, walks and trips to the beach at his group home where he lived for the last 30+ years of his life.

Edward is survived by his brother, Russell (Sherry) Gebhard; and his cousins: Jennifer (Stephen) Dill, Mark Fell, Cynthia (Sandy) Swafford, Charles Fell (Marianne Worley) Thomas (Renee) Fell, and Kathryn Fell.  He also leaves behind many others who loved and helped care for him throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his uncles Gordon C. Fell and Thomas T. Fell, as well as cousins Elizabeth Lynn and Alyce Fell.

Services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 10am at St. Paul’s Rock Creek Church, 201 Allison Street NW, Washington, DC 20111. Burial will be immediately following at Rock Creek Cemetery.
