Robel, Edward Joseph, 91 of Laurel, Maryland passed away surrounded by his family on February 26, 2013. He was born and raised in Baltimore, MD on October 1, 1921. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. He was a World War II Honoree and a member of the American Legion. He received a Masters in Biochemistry at the University of Maryland and was a Mathematics and Science high school educator. He retired after 38 years of an illustrious career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture where he was valued for numerous publications in science journals both domestic and international and was awarded a U.S. patent. His research and study was his life's passion. He was one of the first parishioners and volunteered in the building and maintenance of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy S. Robel, children, Patricia, Robert, and Tim, 7 grandchildren and 9 great, grandchildren. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, to send donations to St. Nicholas Building Fund 8603 Contee Rd. Laurel, MD 20708 and the teaching order of the Christian Brothers LaSalle at Saint LaSalle Auxiliary P.O. Box 238 Lincroft, NJ 07738-0238, Attn: Brother William Martin.
The family will receive friends at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 8603 Contee Road, Laurel, Md. 20708 on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon followed by a private cremation.
