Edward Patrick Ryan

Edward Patrick Ryan (85) of Elkridge, MD passed away April 23, 2026. He was born in Washington, DC to Edward Therlow Ryan and Thelma Cecilia Hilleary Ryan.

Edward was a member of The American Legion, The Rod and Gun Club and the NRA.

He served in the United Air Force for 7 years active duty as a staff sergeant who specialized in radio communications.

Following his service he began his career at IBM for 10 years as a customer engineer and was recognized for Equipment Design & Service Simplification.

Pat moved onto larger commercial work where he was a Lead Technician for 39 years at Pepco. He was known as “Papa Ryan” to his work family. He was a practical jokester and always had a new and creative joke to tell.

In his free time his hobbies included being an FCC radio/licensed Amateur Radio Operator. To many Pat was known as Mr. Fix it and Jack of all trades. There wasn’t anything from a car, radio, air conditioner, carpentry job or a Christmas light repair that he couldn’t tackle. His neighbors would come and borrow any tool because they knew he would have it; or on the other hand; would he be able to find it!

Among his hobbies, he loved going on fishing and hunting trips. You would find him visiting the shooting range with his cousin Danny Brown; son, Fausto Ryan; and grandson, Durham Ryan. His favorite vacation spot was relaxing at Lake Gaston in North Carolina with his son, Shane Ryan and his family. His favorite time of year was Christmas.
