Efrain "Frank" Monzon, Jr was born on September 23, 1960 in Havana, Cuba. After moving to the United States as a small child, he eventually created his home in Baltimore, MD, but had great pride in his Cuban heritage. Following a liver transplant and an extensive illness, Frank passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 surrounded by family and loved ones at the University of Maryland medical center in Baltimore. Frank was preceded in death by his father, Efrain Monzon Sr.
Frank loved life to the fullest, and had a strong passion for boating. He loved to fish and enthusiastically awaited boating season every year. Frank also had a soft spot in his heart for animals. He loved music and had a particular penchant for rock music, which perfectly fit his lively personality. He was always known to be spontaneous, and would often unexpectedly pay a visit to his friends and family. He lived in the moment and made the best of everything he had.
Frank's life will be forever cherished in the lives of his survivors: daughters Dawn Virginia Portocarrero and Traci Leigh Hoffman; his two grandchildren Tyler Chrystiana Portocarrero and Ayden William Smith; his sister Sandy Blair and brother-in-law Roger Blair; his brother Richard Monzon and sister-in-law Brenda Osario Monzon; girlfriend Charlene Paulus; stepmother Vilma Monzon; and a number of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
