Eleanor Hall, 85, of Brighton Gardens, Columbia, MD went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 26, 2011.
She was born May 11, 1926 on Hall Shop Rd., Clarksville, MD where she lived until 2007. She was the daughter of the late Herbert E. and Rosalie Earp Hall.
Eleanor was a graduate of Clarksville high School, 1944. After working at the office of the Clerk of the Court in Ellicott City from 1944-51, she attended the University of Maryland, receiving her B.S. degree and later her M.ED degree. She was an art teacher at Mt. Rainier Jr. High and Rollingcrest in P.G. Co. and a counselor in the Howard Co. schools serving at Ellicott City Middle School, Clarksville Middle, Harpers Choice Middle, retiring from Glenelg High in 1979.
She was active in many areas of ministry in Mt. Zion Methodist Church and a lifelong student of the Bible. Other interests included reading, various crafts, oil painting, gardening, photography and travel in the 48 states, Mexico and Canada.
After retirement she was a Christian counselor for 20 years at The Tabernacle Church of Laurel and served much of that time as an Elder. Later she attended Immanuel's Church of Silver Spring returning to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Highland in 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Rosalie Hall and Ruth Phelps and also a niece, Nancy Parlette.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy H. Stull; a niece June Walker and husband, Gordon, of Fulton, nephews Robert L. Stull and wife, Arleen, of Edinburg, VA and Ft. Pierce, FL; Richard A. Phelps and wife, Elaine, of Laurel, MD; and Herbert L. Phelps and wife, Penny, of Venice, FL and numerous great nieces and nephews and their families. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to your favorite Christian charity.
