Elizabeth Hance Lammers

January 3, 1913 — March 28, 2012

Elizabeth Hance Lammers departed this world on March 28, 2012, she was 99 years old. She lived her entire life in Laurel where her parents Frank and Estella Hance, owned a farm in Laurel. Her grandfather started the first general store in Laurel on Main Street. She went to the Fairy Spring School for early education, which was a one room school house on Bowie Road; she graduated from Bowie High School. This was during the Depression and she was unable to find a job. Citizen's National Bank, now PNC, gave her a job without pay. Within six months she was a paid employee and worked there until 1946. She was married to Charles Lammers, who passed away in 1981, and had two children, Ruth Barton and Beth Elliott. Elizabeth was very involved in church and enjoyed gardening, and for several years owned and operated Boxwood Lawn Nursery. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Elliott of Laurel and Ruth Barton and son-in-law Ed of Fayetteville, PA; grandchildren Margie Smith and husband Don of Arnold, MD; Paul Barton and wife Gina of Severna Park, MD; Vince Elliott and wife Christy of Severna Park, MD; and David Elliott of Laurel. A grandson, Ronald Elliott, preceded her in death. She has six great-grandchildren, Madison, Cheyenne, Ellisa, Brendan, Brooke and Blake. In addition to her immediate family, Elizabeth loved and cherished her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; she will be missed by many.
