Elizabeth J. Peters

Elizabeth J. Peters, 86, of Maryland City, passed away on January 23, 2024. “Betty,” as she was known to her family, was born to John and Beatrice Denton on April 6, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, where she met and married her husband of 35 years, Lawrence Peters Sr. Lawrence predeceased Betty in July, 1994.

Betty was a founding member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and was active in many church events and functions, as well as serving as a eucharistic minister. She was a devout supporter of the community until relocating to Collington Community in Bowie, Maryland, in 2018. Her life overflowed with the love of family, and her home, always warm and welcoming, overflowed with her beloved cat figurines.

Betty, who was preceded in death by her oldest son Lawrence Peters Jr. (Geraldine Peters), is survived by her other children, daughters Maureen Levin (Michael Levin), and Donna Rouiller, and her youngest son, Michael Peters (Becky Peters). She also leaves behind four loving grandchildren (Joseph, Andrew, Sam, and Brittany), and three great grandchildren (Raleigh, Charlie, and Mae).

A service will be held January 29, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Resurrection of our Lord Catholic Church (8402 Brock Bridge Rd, Laurel, MD 20724). Relatives and friends are invited for light refreshments immediately following the service in the church hall.
