Ernest "Buttsy" Souder

Ernest Butts Souder, Sr, 81 year of age, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away at home on September 30, 2018.

He was born in 1936 to Lyman Lewis and Catherine Minerva Souder in Savage, Maryland. Ernest Souder was a member of the Laurel North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He a retired custom carpenter who enjoyed years of building with his sons and his grandsons.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, and he sure loved holding a baby. He also found great joy in sharing God’s name with others. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his children Ernest Butts Souder, Jr., Jeffrey Lee Souder, Cynthia Jo Rollins, and Sheila Rae Souder; his sister, Susie Sweet Souder, eleven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation and Memorial Talk will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018.  Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 1 pm, and Memorial Talk will begin at 1 pm. Both will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 15200 Sweitzer Lane, Laurel, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Gilchrest Hospice or cancer research.
