Etna E. Casula

Etna Ethel Casula (nee Weldon), beloved Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother  passed away on September 13, 2015 at the Patuxent Rehab Center in Laurel, Maryland after a brief illness.  Etna was born in Mt. Carmel, Louisiana on January 5, 1923, the third child of Edmund Elmo Weldon and Ora Etna Weldon (Skinner).  Etna was a 61 year resident of Laurel, Maryland and wife of the late Frank P. Casula former Mayor of Laurel.  She is survived by her sons, Christopher Casula (Andrea) and Patrick Casula (Lesley), Grandchildren Michael Casula (Mary), Marie O’Brien (David), Denise Casula (Daniel Holt), Patrick Casula (Diana), Timothy Casula (Lauren), and Heather  Vance (Jeff), two step-grandchildren; Matthew Mendelsohn (Elizabeth) and Sloane Mendelsohn and  14 great-grandchildren (one great grandson preceded her in death).  She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Michalene Chabon and Patricia Casula and many nieces and nephews.

An active member of St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church for more than 60 years, Etna also served as a member of the Ladies of Charity, the Altar Guild, and a volunteer at the Laurel Regional Hospital.  She loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed golfing and bowling.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mary of the Mills, Laurel, Maryland.  Visitation will be at Donaldson’s Funeral Home, 313 Talbot Ave. (Rt. 198W), on Friday, Sept. 18, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary of the Mills, 114 St. Mary’s Place, on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10:30 AM.  Burial will be in the church cemetery immediately following the mass.
