It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that my lovely and beautiful wife, Fatma Jeanty, age 74, passed away peacefully in Laurel, Maryland on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Fatma was born in 1951 to the late Ibrahim Cag and the late Vehibe Cag (née Ozbakan).
Fatma was a very devoted wife, mother, confidante and she was very compassionate. She was loved by everyone she met and positively touched their lives. She would go out of her way to help strangers. She had strong faith in God and lived a righteous life.
As my wife, we were married for over 44 years and have known each other for over 47 years. She had an impeccable integrity, and was always very faithful and loyal throughout our journey together. She was funny and playful and always found some humor even during the most difficult time of her illness.
My wife Fatma was the love of my life and is irreplaceable. I met her while I was serving with the United States Army in Germany and from the moment I met her it was love at first sight. I will always treasure the fact that she left her family, her friends, her employment and followed me to the United States of America even though she had no family or friends in the United States as a result of my military reassignment. My wife Fatma deserves all the credit for everything we have achieved together.
In her professional life, she worked as an electronic technician for Grundig, a German firm as well as the Marine Corps Exchange as a sales associate, where she received numerous commendations and compliments. In her off time, my wife enjoyed reading, watching television, communicating with my in-laws overseas and she also did volunteer work at the local military base.
Fatma is survived by her husband Carl H. Jeanty; her mother-in-law, Marie J. Jeanty; her nephew, Mr. Kenan Cag and family; her niece, Ms. Nalan Cag and family; her brother- and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barber; Many other other family members including: Creda Desir; Wilfrid Desir, Jr.; Yvelande Desir; Mr. & Mrs. Erick Tadal, Jr.; Mr. & Mrs. Louibert Lorthe, among others.
Fatma was preceded in death by our only child, Julian H. Jeanty; her late father, Ibrahim Cag and her late mother Vehibe Cag, née Ozbakan.
Memorial services for Fatma Jeanty will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707, to be followed by an internment at the Arlington National Cemetery. Repast will be held at the old Fort Myer Officers Club, Fort Myer, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association and the Kidney Foundation in her honor.
