Fisayo Olubunmi Oke

Fisayo was born in Benin-City, Nigeria on August 15th 1978. She attended Greater Tomorrow and Igbinedion Secondary Schools in Nigeria. She set out to the US with her brother Abiodun Oke to pursue and achieve her dreams as a Pharmacist. In February 1998, tragedy struck. She lost her brother Abiodun Oke who was 23 years old at the time. 20year old Fisayo found herself alone. Rather than crumble under pressure and return to her original homeland (Nigeria), she soldiered on and achieved her dreams of becoming a pharmacist. These were though times for her but at the end of the day, SHE DID IT.

She worked in Walmart Pharmaceutical Department for about 17 years and grew through the ranks to become a manage. She was very passionate about her job. All this while, her constant support for her family (father, mother, brothers and sister) was second to none. To her, our needs came first.

Sometime in 2016, she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. For someone that never smoked and was very young at the time (37 years old), it was a devastating news. She fought cancer hard and always believed at the end of the day, she would come out victorious. On August 15th, 2018 she took her last breath and grew her angel wings. She left her physical being and ascended to a much better place where cancer would have no hold on her.

For us her siblings, she still remains our hero, friend, mentor, and motivator. She would continue to be our shining star and we would always be proud of her. Her will to succeed and her positivity are values we hold dear. These values will forever be instilled in us and would be used for the good and benefit of others.

Fisayo left behind her father, mother, brothers, sister, nieces, nephew, loved ones and friends. Adieu Fisayo, we will always love you. You will be greatly missed.
