Frances Ellen Robinson, 89, a lifelong resident of Laurel, MD. passed away on October 13, 2013 at Heartland Health Care of Ellicott City. She was born on July 3, 1924 to the late Howard and Martha Robinson. She was an independent, professional woman for much of her life. She became co-owner of Rocky Gorge Golf Fairway in 1964. In 1980, Frances married Kenneth Novak. After she retired from the Department of Agriculture as an Administrative Assistant she and her husband, Ken, moved to Milford, DE. and opened Causey Mansion Bed & Breakfast as well as a used bookstore called Secondhand Prose. Frances was a longstanding member of B.P.W. (Baltimore Professional Women). She was very proud of being a liberal woman and a life-long environmentalist. She listed her farmland of 50+ acres under Maryland Environmental Trust . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth F. Novak, and 5 brothers. She is survived by her children Nancy Ferreira, Barry Novak, Garry Novak and his wife Jackie; grandchildren Joe Whitehair and his wife Nicole, Michael Ferreira and Deborah Ferreira; great-grandchildren Jordan, Michael and Kennedy. She also has many cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.
