Francis Bernard "Frank" McGettrick of Laurel, MD and
Englewood, FL passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at
Laurel Regional Hospital at the age of 83. Frank was born
and raised in Scranton, PA. A graduate of South Scranton
High School in 1949, Frank then enlisted in the Air Force and
served during the Korean War. After his marriage to Jane
Marie Losty, the couple moved to Baltimore, MD, where Frank
worked for the Social Security Administration, while earning
Bachelors degrees in History and Philosophy from Loyola
University of Maryland. At the time of his death, Frank was a
retired Federal Employee of the U.S. Government, having
served the majority of his career as Under Secretary for the
U.S. Department of Education. After retiring from the Federal
Government at age 55, Frank then went on to become a
Management Consultant at the American Association of
Retired Persons (AARP).
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jane Losty McGettrick
of Laurel, MD and Englewood, FL; his sister, Margaret "Peg"
Creedon of Port Jefferson, NY; his sons, Mark (Nancy) of
Richmond, VA, Michael (Saida) of Falls Church, VA, Matthew
(Esperanza) of Tampa, FL and Peter of Englewood, FL; his
daughters, Jane (Peter) and Elizabeth "Bee" (Fred) both of
Ellicott City, MD. Also survived by 12 devoted grandchildren:
Ashley, Morgan, Mary (Alex), David, Anna, Yasmeen, Amir,
Nicholas, Joseph, Bridget, Ellie and Reese. A sister, Mary
Lou Kalinich and brother, Robert "Bobby" McGettrick
predeceased him.
