Frederick Mansfield Egan, Jr.

Frederick Mansfield Egan Jr., age 81 passed away unexpectedly on November 17th, 2025. Born on May 24th, 1944, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Frederick Egan Sr. and Mary Amanda Egan. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and Merrimack College where he received a Bachelor’s in Economics. After college, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served one tour of duty in Vietnam, obtaining the rank of corporal. After the war he used his economics degree to build a career in sales and marketing. This career path took him and his family across the east coast of the United States; from Andover, Massachusetts, Westfield, New Jersey, Vienna, Virginia, and his favorite, Ridgefield, Connecticut.

As the technology industry evolved over the years, so did Fred’s life as he went back to Massachusetts and began a new career path managing restaurants. It was during this period that his love of cooking and fine wine collecting blossomed. He would often host wine tasting dinners for friends and family. It was from this career that he retired in 2011. In retirement he lived in Mashpee, Massachusetts (on Cape Cod) and later settled in Laurel, Maryland where he put down his final roots.

Throughout his life he was a devout Catholic, but it was in retirement that he was able to give back to the communities through volunteering. He was most proud of his food pantry and homeless shelter volunteer work and would often describe his various jobs down to the smallest detail. He loved his family and friends deeply and would often refer to himself as a ‘lucky man’ and was proud of the life he lived.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul Anthony Egan, Fr. Richmond John Egan, and his son Gregory Egan who passed away in 2009. He is survived by his sister Martha Anne Egan, his former wife Mary Anne Corriveau, his son Frederick Mansfield Egan III and daughter Mary Catherine DeBlasio, daughter-in-law, Rachel Egan, and son-in-law, Nello DeBlasio.

A final funeral mass will be on Thursday, December 4th at 11:00 am at Saint Eulalia Parish in Winchester, Massachusetts, preceded by visitation at the church, at 10:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will be at Holyhood Cemetery in Chestnut Hill.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Mary of the Mills Parish in Laurel, Maryland…Fred’s second home.
