Gary Peter Lukas, 66, a loving father, husband, and brother, passed away on March 26, 2016 in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was born on December 31, 1949 in Mocanaqua, Pennsylvania to Sophie and Peter Lukac.
Gary lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and his final home in Burtonsville, Maryland. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and later became a mechanical engineer at Lehigh University where he was president of his fraternity, Lamda Chi Alpha. After graduation he worked for the Architect of the Capitol for seven years and later retired from Siemens Building Technologies after working there for over twenty years. Since then, he enjoyed retirement by spending time with his family, cooking, fishing, boating, and going to the beach. He was an expert craftsman- single handedly remodeling his two homes numerous times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Sophie Lukac, as well as many other family members. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia (Patty), and his daughter, Amanda, as well as his sister, Shirl Lukac-Evans and her husband, Trevor, many nieces and nephews, and other loved ones.
